Konso Case File Consultant
Ongaye Oda Orkaydo has a PhD in Linguistics from Leiden University (The Netherlands, 2013), and won two visiting fellowships (University of Turin (Italy) 2016; and African Studies Centre Leiden (The Netherlands) 2018). Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Linguistics, and a full time researcher at the Institute of Indigenous Studies, Dilla University (Ethiopia). He has published 8 articles, and written 3 grammar books (Konso (2013), K’abeena (2014), and Silt’e (2017)). Ongaye is a Scientific Board member for Kervan-International Journal of Afro-Asiatic Studies, Turin University, Italy. His research interests include grammar writing (especially for Cushitic and Omotic languages), mother tongue education (planning, implementation and evaluation), indigenous peoples and human-environment relations, social dynamics (especially, workforce organizations and house constructions), and gender issues among others. Finally, he has won three research grants from the Council of Nationalities of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Regional State of Ethiopia
